The Hare stretched himself out alongside the road and fell asleep, thinking, “There is much time to relax.” The Tortoise walked and walked, never ever stopping until he came to the finishing line.

The animals who came there to watch the race cheered so loudly for Tortoise that they awakened the Hare. The Hare stretched, yawned, and commenced to run again, but it had been too late. The Tortoise had already crossed the finishing line.

Story 4: A Hole in the Fence

In a small village, a small boy lived together with his father and mother. He was the sole son. The parents of the small boy were very depressed because of his ill-temper. The boy gets angry very soon and taunts others together with his words. Due to his ill-temper, he uses words that hurt the feelings of others. He shouted at kids, neighbors, and even his friends due to his untamable anger. His neighbors and friends used to avoid him, and his parents were really worried about him.

His mother and father advised him repeatedly to regulate his anger and develop kindness. Unfortunately, all their attempts failed. Finally, the boy’s father came up with a thought.

One day, his father gave him an enormous bag of nails. He told his son to hammer one nail to the fence whenever he became angry and lost his temper. The small boy found it entertaining and accepted the task.

Every time he becomes angry, he ran to the fence and hammered a nail. His anger drove him to hammer nails on the fence 30 times on the very first day! After subsequent few days, the number of nails hammered on the fence was reduced to half. the small boy found it very difficult to hammer the nails and decided to regulate his temper.

Gradually, the number of nails hammered to the fence was reduced, and therefore the day arrived when no nail was hammered! The boy didn’t lose his temper in the least that day. For subsequent several days, he didn’t lose his temper, and neither did he hammer nails.

Now, his father told him to get rid of the nails whenever the boy controlled his anger. Several days passed, and therefore the boy was ready to pull out most of the nails from the fence. However, there remained a couple of nails that he couldn’t pull out.

The boy told his father about it. the daddy appreciated him and asked him, pointing to a hole, “What does one see there?”

The boy replied, “a hole within the fence!”

He told the boy, “The nails were your ill temper and that they were hammered on people. you’ll remove the nails but the holes within the fence will remain. The fence will never look equivalent. There were scars everywhere. He can’t even pull out some nails. You’ll kill a person with a knife, and apologize later, but the wound will remain there forever. Your ill temper and angry words were like that! Words are more painful than physical abuse! You should use words permanently for purposes. Use them to grow relationships. Also, use them to point out the love and kindness in your heart!”

Moral of the story for kids: Unkind words cause lasting damage: Let our words be kind and sweet.
